Since the 1980s, this bathroom had remained exactly as it was. Dated, difficult, and never quite working the way it needed to. She'd put off remodeling for years, unsure where to even start and overwhelmed by all the decisions.

Handing it over felt like a genuine relief. She didn't have to carry any of it alone, and for the first time in a while, her worries eased and she could simply trust the process.

The client had a deep emotional attachment to lighthouses, coastal shorelines, and the quiet beauty of the water. Rather than creating a theme, we translated that feeling into something softer.

Aging-in-place details were woven in with care, so the space could offer more comfort, safety, and ease without feeling clinical or cold.

Every detail was chosen to echo the rhythm of the coast: terrazzo underfoot like a tide-washed shore, softly striated porcelain like rippling tidewater, mother-of-pearl glinting like ocean-polished shells, and walls painted the blush of a sunset at dusk. Soft textures and grounded warmth hold it all together. This small bath now feels like a gentle reset for the senses, serene and harmonious. A ritual, not a rush.

She still calls just to say how much she loves her bathroom. A piece of art I found at an antique mall brought back a sweet memory with her late sister... something she never expected a bathroom to give her.
